Project Costa Chica (Guerrero, Mexico) - In progress

Currently, in the village of Costa Chica, there is a growing problem of violence and gender vulnerability due to various causes. The first, is related to the patriarchal and machista values and education of the dominant Afro-mestizo culture, and the second is related to alcoholism, abandonment and the economic precariousness of marginalization and poverty. The Female Leadership Program For Productive Entrepreneurship developed and run by Binni Biaani, is a training and consulting program that has been specially designed to promote the value of women undergoing conditions of violence and gender vulnerability. This is accomplished by developing skills, abilities and technical competencies that have value in the local market that invest in a local group of women that can provide services to the local market, generate products and services, help each other and set up a reliable income source.

Women and Girls First will be traveling to the village of Costa Chica between April 19th - April 27th to deliver donations collected up until April 15th. Your money will go directly towards funding both the Leadership Program and to supplies required for each specific trade. We are working to give you more specifics about each woman's story and need.
